My dad tells me that now, at the age of 49, he has to admit that some changes to our roads make traffic flow better. He’ll quickly add that he thinks most changes are rubbish but, within the many, there are some that seem to work out well. Which got me thinking about politics. The reality is, you can’t please all of the people all of the time and someone is always likely to throw mud at a political idea, policy or outcome. Still, within the hot air and political manoeuvring, there are good things that bring positive change and make a real difference. Here are three that I think are particularly worthy of praise.
I think that the fact that EVERYONE can now marry the person they love (Legally) is amazing. Don’t get me wrong, we still have a long, long way to go, but a man can marry a man, a woman can marry a woman, anyone can marry everyone and everyone can marry anyone.
Most countries have put in place laws to protect BAME citizens from racism and abuse. THAT IS AMAZING! I, and I hope the rest of the world, think that this is a huge step in COMPLETE equality.
Last but not least, anti-ableism laws. BRILLIANT! Someone who has a physical or mental (Or both) disability is free from discrimination! (Legally).
